Installation Idea

Our final project is about making installation at the end of the year so, we are going to think about our installation idea by considering the concept of perceptibility. While me and my group members searching idea under the concept of optical illusion, we encounter Suzanne Saroff who uses foods distorted through liquid and glass in photographs. The way she reaches the idea helps us to think in a different way and we put our decision/thought by mixing what she done with the objects. Every person’s artistic approach in the group and also our inspiration is matched by the Suzanne Saroff artworks. We want to create two meaning in our work which is related to word of “duality”. Therefore, her photographs have two meaning from our perspective. We integrated the idea of different meaning one of which is behind the glass(reality) and the other one is distorted image through the glass (abstract way to tell our intention).

People have a tendency to overthink in their lives. Even if the situation is not seen as very big deal, most of the people can see this situation as it is the most worse thing in their lives. However, mostly, the reason behind we think like that is how we perceive our world. How we perceive the situation and how we look at it. Maybe we have to change where we look at it and see the reality of it. Because our mind is the master of exaggerating situations, we perceive things something really hard to handle it. Therefore, maybe we should change our perception and perspective in order to get rid of the our brain’s illusion. Then, we can encounter the real image.

In order to reach that idea in our installation project, we thought that Suzanne Saroff photographs help us and we can integrate her idea in our idea of perceive things. She distorted the images looking by putting behind the glass so, water change the shape and make distortion images. But at the same time, if we change our perspective while we are looking at the image, we can also see the real object behind the glass. So, first we see the distorted image in the glass which is related brain’s illusion and then when we change our perspective/ the way we looking image we can see the real image. We understand that there is nothing to fear of it.
