We came to the end of the period. In this course, I can say that COMD282 was a really enjoyable course. Both projects and exercises are instructive and giving information about most of the aspects of design. Compare to COM281, every week, what we have done in class is connected to the last week. Therefore, I can understand that the project more because every week we learned an important aspect of movie/film. Every lecture is connected to each other. This makes no confusion in people's mind, I think.

Ahlat Ağacı is directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan in 2018. Synopsis of the film is that Sinan is passionate about literature and has always wanted to be a writer. Returning to the village where he was born, he pours his heart and soul into scraping together the money he needs to be published, but his father’s debts catch up with him. This film gives lots of deep meaning about love, life, family and Turkey in today’s time period. A movie is 3 hours and it needs full concentration while watching. I think dialogues and the type of shooting are the most important two aspects of that film. When the film finished if I looked at the dialogues of the film again in google that means that these kinds of the film really affected me. I want to read and see the dialogues over and over again. In that film, the way people talked with each other is successful in terms of giving the idea. It criticizes different aspects of life, love and family and the way they criticize in the film is real. Tabula Rosa is directed by Hatice Memiş and written by Gülin Tokat in 2016. The movie is about one day, Sinan rescues a woman while she is walking in the street. A woman carries a bag full of money. However, she doesn’t remember her name and also the source of the money because of temporary memory loss. The unexpected love between them brings lots of difficulties. The story is mainly about Armenian lawyer Rosa who lost her memory as a result of a trauma. In that film, first I want to talk about the script. The movie of the story is powerful because the way Gülin Tokat tells the story is successful to reach the idea of “don’t judge people because of their different religions”. Rosa doesn’t remember where she comes from. She meets with Sinan. Sinan trust her even if she has a bag full of money. He believes that she doesn’t do anything about illegal. Our final project is about making installation at the end of the year so, we are going to think about our installation idea by considering the concept of perceptibility. While me and my group members searching idea under the concept of optical illusion, we encounter Suzanne Saroff who uses foods distorted through liquid and glass in photographs. The way she reaches the idea helps us to think in a different way and we put our decision/thought by mixing what she done with the objects. Every person’s artistic approach in the group and also our inspiration is matched by the Suzanne Saroff artworks. We want to create two meaning in our work which is related to word of “duality”. Therefore, her photographs have two meaning from our perspective. We integrated the idea of different meaning one of which is behind the glass(reality) and the other one is distorted image through the glass (abstract way to tell our intention).   People have a tendency to overthink in the...

 Collage is a technique that can be called mixed-media art. The term collage originate from the French term papers collés - that means used to describe techniques of pasting paper cuts in different/ various surfaces/places. In collage technique, imagination is limitless. Normally, what we didn’t see in our world by together, we have a chance to put together/ put side by side by making collage. Collage is not only include papers, it can also include other medias such as painting, drawing, digital collage and three dimensional elements. While you creating your own collage, the content is up to you, in other words, you could criticize something in it, or you can express the idea in directly or creating very abstract way. The way you tell a story is what is in your own mind. Therefore, I like the collage technique because I make my own rules. I don’t have to put myself any obligation or rules. What we covered in this week is about experimental film that is also called avant-garde cinema. Experimental film usually re-evaluates cinematic conventions and explain the subject bu using different kinds of approach to display audience. Experimental films are usually made cheaply with low budgets. Generally, experimental film doesn’t reach many people and these kinds of films are not having a broad influence on people. Additionally, these kinds of films explain the subject in a different approach and it makes many time to understand hard. It contains so much metaphoric meanings/things and sometimes it is getting hard to follow narrative of the film. However, experimental film makes people to think and understand. Even if it is hard to understand, most of the time it is subjective. There are no one truth. What you understand or what you get in the idea, it is true for your perspective. It is different, unique.
