Photo Narrative 2

This week, we learned about types of taking photograph which I didn’t know much about these topics before. I am not a good at taking photographs and the reason why is that   I don’t know too much information about what’s rules of taking good photograph exactly. Looking at bathroom scene of Psycho(1960) and North by Northwest(1959), they gives information about how angles and camera shots are important while creating a movie. We analysed step by step every scene and we understand that camera angle made different kinds of emotions and meanings in movies. This lesson gives information about importance of camera angles.   So, this week, we try to create narrative by using photos which is about what we decided to tell about any kinds of stories. This is more challenging for me and Sena because we choose a subject which was about claustrophobia. We are interested about the subject but both of us didn’t   have a claustrophobia so, we searched a lot befor...

Photo Narrative

Resim
In our previous lesson, we watched a film that was created by using many photos and these photos made sequences/narration in the movie. It was different than the kind we were used to it. We had a chance to observe and understand every details in photos and in our mind, we tried to combine the previous photos and next photos in order to understand whole story. However, movie has movement in it. It always continues and sometimes people cannot realise many details while they are watching. By using photography in storytelling, the photos are going one by one and so, it is more good way to convey your ideas to audiences. When our next assignment came up, I searched something interesting about photography in storytelling on   internet then, one of the photographer’s who names is Duane Michals photographs came to me very interesting. In his photographs, there are most of variations while he was trying to approach his idea in photos. Sometimes he used surrealist approach in order t...

Fatboy Slim - Praise You

Resim
“Praise You” is a song by British big beat musician Fatboy Slim and music video was directed by Spike Jonze. The video was shot guerrilla style which means on location without obtaining any permission from the owners of the property. Music video was full of freedom. The reason is that people who were dancing on the middle didn’t fit in any dance figures, they created their own figures. Because of that, it was a different kinds of   music video in terms of place, people and dance when comparing other music videos. It breaks the stereotype   music videos like it had no remarkable clothes and people in the music video or they were not spending so much money in order to take this video. In my opinion, this makes more memorable video in people’s mind because dancing was really different and ones who watched the video tried to understand what they were doing and because their dance was unique, people remembered the video. It shows that you don’t need big production to be su...
